RI Dog Park: Gano Dog Park- Providence, Rhode Island

Steve:

The Gano Dog Park is located just off exit 2 of 195 in Providence. The park is next to a Dunkin’ Donuts and hidden behind basketball courts so you might miss it the first time you drive by. The parking lot is small and shared with the courts but since the park isn’t huge it limits how many dogs can play. The fence is in good condition and both big and small dog sections have double gates. The entrance to the small dog section is on the other side of the basketball courts and is used mostly by those with aggressive or easily scared dogs and those trying to train their dogs separately. The main section has sand along the lower area which has led to dogs digging some holes that haven’t been filled in. The back half has grass and it’s still in good shape. There’s also a small hill for dogs to run up and down. For amenities, there are empty trash cans and dog waste bags.

A kind patron created and donated a bench that holds 3 bowls of water with a Gano street sign on it. While there is no running water, Dunkin’ Donuts will fill up your bowl with tap water for free. There’s only one bench for the dog owners but a tent provides shade for the seat. Either way, the patrons love Gano Dog Park so I suggest you check it out for yourself and then leave your comment below.
