RI Dog Park Dexter Dog Park-Providence Rhode Island

Speaker 1: The Dexter Dog Park is close to Federal Hill in Providence, right off of Westminster street. This dog park is easy to find since it’s located within the larger Dexter Park, a city park that stands out from the ordinary.

What will really grab your attention is the large building next to the park that looks like a castle. It’s hard to miss. The dog park is an enclosed space that’s in the middle of the Dexter Park. This means that it’s within a popular area but that doesn’t mean that the park is always full. The dog park has a nice fence that surrounds the entire area. I had heard about spaces in the fence that would allow smaller dogs to get out, but they seem to have solved that problem prior to my arrival.

There are two sections; a smaller dog section which lives up to it’s name and a large dog section which is about three times larger. Since it is a city park though, even the large dog section isn’t huge. A double gate opens into both. The park is grassy with a fair amount of sand, but it seems to be maintained by the city which is a plus.

When it comes to amenities the Dexter Dog Park has empty trash can, and waste disposal bags, but no leftover dog bowls or running water. For the most part, there is little shade so be sure to keep your dog hydrated. Unfortunately, there are no places to sit so if you’re taking your dog after a long day, bring a folding care.

Being ten minutes away from Gano Dog Park, Dexter isn’t used by too many people who don’t live in the area.

I suggest you swing by to see what you’re missing and then leave your comments below.
